A young chap
was about to graduate from University. He had admired a beautiful sports car in
a dealer’s showroom and knowing the fact that his father could well afford it, he
told him to buy that car for him.
On graduation
day, his father called him into his study room and told him that he was proud to
have a kid like him. He handed his son a beautifully wrapped box which somewhat
disappointed the young man, opened the box and found a lovely book, “The Holy
Quran” in it.
In a
provocative tone, he raised his voice at his father and said ‘With all your
money you could only afford to give me the Holy Quran?’ and stormed out of the
room leaving the Holy Book behind.
As time and
many years passed, the young man was now a very successful businessman. He had
a handsome residence and an ideal family but realized after a long time that
his father was very old, and he should go to visit him. He had not seen him
since his graduation day.
Before he
could make arrangements, he received a message telling him that his father has
passed away and willed all his possessions to his son. He was required to come
home immediately and take care of things.
When he
arrived at his father’s house, sudden sorrow, epiphany, and regret filled his
heart. He began to search his father’s papers and saw the Holy Quran still there,
which he had left it years ago. With tears in his eyes, he opened the Holy book
and began to turn the pages.
As he was
turning the pages, the key of a car dropped from an envelope tapped underneath
the Quran. It had a tag with the dealer’s name. The same dealer who has the
sports car he had desired. Dan Brown rightly said, “No love is greater than that
of a father for his son.”
How many times do we miss Allah’s (God’s)
blessing because of our intolerance, pique, and short-sightedness?
Has the story touched your heart?
